CURSING THE BLESSED?

Pastor Isiaka September 17 at 5:08pm Reply Thursday, September 17, 2009

Memorise: "Shew thy marvellous loving kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them" (Ps 17:7)

Read: Numbers 23:19-26
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.
23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.
26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?
"Shew thy marvellous loving kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them" (Ps 17:7).

If you go through the book of Psalms, one theme you will commonly find is trust. Those who trust God are blessed and highly favoured but those who do not, are miles from favour. In Jeremiah 17:7, God says the man who trusts in Him is blessed. A blessing is an invitation to all good forces in the universe to assist an individual. The highest prayer any pastor can give you is, 'God bless you'. When you are blessed, you will knock on one door and seven will open. This is why elders desire to transfer the generational blessing to their deserving children before they kick the bucket. The power behind spoken words is a function of who is saying it. If your brother says, 'God bless you, that is not a blessing but a greeting. But if your parent, husband or pastor says the same thing, it is not a greeting but a blessing because they have the authority to do so. When God blesses you, nobody can reverse it. It is surprising to see how some believers react to the curses of unbelievers as if such curses will truly come to pass. You should be afraid if you have broken the hedge of divine protection over you through sin, and if you have done something to attract such curses e.g. by eating your tithes. But if you have kept your Christian life intact, then Proverbs 26:2 says every attempt to curse you will be in vain.

It is very dangerous to curse the one God has blessed. Hence, in Genesis 12:3, God says whoever curses the One He has blessed automatically comes under a divine curse. From today, anyone who places a curse upon you will come under God's curse. In Numbers 22:12, God told Balaam the prophet that no matter what, he cannot curse those He has blessed. As long as you are born again and pleasing God, you are beyond the curse of men. Strive never to come under God's curse. That may be irreversible. Never trust in man. Put your trust in God and let Him decide how to help you. Are you seeing the blessings of God in your life? If no, first find out from yourself and then from God. This year, your blessings shall be evident.

ACTION POINT FOR TODAY
The blessings of some people and even believers are on hold because they cursed someone whom God has blessed. Guilty? Repent, restitute and break the curse.
You are special,
You are loved,
